Having Trouble deciding which piece of aerobic fitness equipment is best suited to your needs. Below are some useful pointers that may make the decision easier for you.
Treadmills:
Treadmills are probably, the most popular piece of aerobic equipment. Treadmills are one of the best forms of aerobic exercise for a wide variety of sports and events such as football, cricket, marathons & tennis, mainly because these are high impact sports. High Impact means that means that you are putting your joints under pressure by either running on hard surfaces or stopping, starting and turning at speed. Participating in High Impact sports for a prolonged period of time can cause problems in latter life with your joints if you do not prepare your body, muscles & joints for the event. It is important to warm up and cool down correctly and have proper rest to allow the joints to recover. It is also very important to train the muscles that help support your joints so they are conditioned to take away the strain from your joints and using a treadmill works these muscles but in a controlled environment on a flat and cushioned surface.
Exercise Bikes:
Exercise bikes are excellent for home use. They take up very little space, they make very little noise and you can use them while you watch your favourite TV programme. The majority of exercise bikes have set programmes to allow you to vary your work out. This is useful because the most people will give up on their exercise routine because they start to find it boring, by have the different functions one day you could be going for leisurely ride and the next you could cycling up and down mountains. Alternatively you can just get on and go.
Cross Trainers:
Cross trainers are slowly becoming more and more popular in homes and Gyms in the UK. In the US they have taken over from treadmills as the most popular aerobic fitness equipment. They have all the same benefits as a treadmill but none of the impact. With people become aware of how to look after themselves and the advancement in medical science people are becoming more and more aware of the effects that High Impact sports have on knees, ankles & hips. As a cross trainer has no has no impact at all many dedicated treadmill uses are making the switch.
Rowing Machines:
Rowing machines give you the best all round work and also the quickest. Unlike bikes, treadmills and cross trainers where you only use one major muscle group a rowing machine uses your whole body. This means a 30-minute work out on a rower is the equivalent to a 45-minute session on any of the other machines. They take up very little space, the majority fold for storage and again you can use them while watching the TV.
